Management at Molex Shannon have called staff to a meeting this afternoon (Tuesday) with hundreds of jobs feared to be on the line.

Molex is one of Clare’s largest employers with a workforce in excess of 400. Concerns have been raised since notification of the meeting was issued to staff. A spokesperson confirmed that a meeting was taking place today but would not comment on what was to be discussed.

In January 2009, 100 redundancies were sought with a five percent pay cut also issued as the company experienced a drop in demand for its products. Based in the Shannon Free Zone since 1971, the US multinational makes a range of electronic components for use in a variety of industries such as consumer electronics and data communications.
