A WOMAN in her eighties has died following a fatal road traffic collision in Kilcarroll outside Kilrush.
Two cars were involved in the collision which occurred on the R473 at approximately 2pm on Sunday (December 29th) at Kilcarroll. The scene was attended to by An Garda Síochána and emergency services.
At the scene, the driver of one of the vehicles, a woman in her eighties was pronounced dead, her body was later removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.
No other injuries were reported.
The road remains closed at this time pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and who were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
