CLARE’s ALL-Ireland intermediate ladies football campaign got off to a winning start on Sunday.

An arduous journey to Páirc Esler in Newry resulted in a 1-18 0-09 opening round win for Clare in the TG4 All Ireland Intermediate Championship Group B.

West Clare Gaels’ Fidelma Marrinan goaled for Clare in the opening half which set Evan Talty’s side on their way to victory.

They held a comfortable 1-11 0-03 advantage at the interval and remained in the driving seat for the entirety of the second half.

Evan Talty’s charges welcome Louth to Clare on June 12th, a venue for the tie has yet to be confirmed. A win would secure their place in the knockout stages.
