CARS PARKED overnight at Ennis Train Station were targeted by thieves over the weekend.

Criminal damage to a number of cars parked overnight at the car park of Ennis Train Station occurred on August 18th. The windows of the cars were smashed with the glove boxes ransacked.

On Saturday, Gardaí arrested a fifty year old male in relation to this incident. He was detailed at Ennis Garda Section under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act but was later released without charge.

Gardaí are now preparing a file for submission to the office of the DPP in relation to this incident.

Trevor White of AAA Taxis came across the damage this weekend. “I was there this morning to park my own car and counted at least six piles of broken glass in six different spaces from where windows were smashed. Cars were either broken into or stolen. Luckily for me I had enough time to call a nearby friend who came and collected my car to park it at his house. What an awful ordeal for the poor owners of those cars to be greeted with when they arrived back in Ennis,” he said.
