VISITING restrictions at Ennis Hospital have been eased as the hospital continues to manage an outbreak of COVID-19 on both wards.

A small number of patients are affected and all appropriate infection prevention and control measures are being taken, a spokesperson for UL Hospitals Group confirmed.

The Clare Echo understands that less than five people on each ward have tested positive for the virus.

As of today (Friday), patients are permitted one visitor per day during normal visiting hours. Visiting hours at Ennis are from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm every day.

Exemptions from the visiting restrictions continue to apply on compassionate grounds for patients who are critically ill or at end-of-life, and for people assisting confused patients (e.g., patients with dementia). These exemptions are on a case-by-case basis.

Members of the public have been encouraged not to visit the hospital if they have symptoms of COVID-19 (high temperature, cough or shortness of breath) or other communicable disease.
