Clare GAA have said “it is not intended” to run the Clare Cup, Cusack Cup and Garry Cup this year.

Originally fixed to begin at the end of March, the club leagues had been indefinitely postponed in mid-March with GAA activity across the country paused at the time due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Club championships are to return at the end of July in Clare with a new format as reported in The Clare Echo last week. Running the championship is the primary focus of the Clare County Board at present.

“It is not intended to complete the league competitions in 2020 but no final decision has been made on same,” correspondence from the master fixtures committee outlined.

When Clare’s involvement in this year’s inter-county competitions concludes, the matter will be reviewed. Weather conditions have already been pinpointed as a factor that will influence the leagues taking place.
