TULLA GAA club are to sell the business centre they own in main street as their redevelopment plans continue at Dr Daly Park.

Permission had been sought by Tulla at the January meeting of Clare GAA to sell the business centre it owns on the main street of the East Clare town. They have also been given the green light to rent out their soon to be constructed gym. The Clare Echo understands that East Clare Fitness will expand their offering to run the Tulla facility.

Public relations officer, Edmund Jennings explained, “We have sought permission to sell the building we had originally purchased for an intended use as a meeting room and a gym”.

However the development of a sports pavilion and stand at Dr Daly Park will also incorporate both a gym and meeting room meaning that the need for the Main St facility no longer exists. Funds raised from the sale “will be used to defray costs,” Jennings stated.

As part of the development, Tulla GAA club will soon be able to boast an 860-seater viewing stand, gym, meeting rooms, medical treatment room, press commentary box, kitchen/canteen, changing rooms and toilets. Q-Con Building and Civil Engineers are completing the construction works having previously finalised the design. It is on course to open this year.

Dr Daly Park’s iconic hill will be transformed under the works. The ‘seat for life’ fundraiser is aiding to cover the finances of the project, it allows supporters to have their names inscribed on a Permanent Plaque Scroll, displayed at the sports pavilion. Details on how to support the ‘seat for life’ can be obtained at Tulla GAA’s website or by contacting any club officer.

Laying of a sand-based pitch in 2003, the addition of new dressing rooms in 2004 and the 2009 installation of floodlights were the main developments at the grounds which opened in 1941 prior to the sports pavilion.
