Recording a hole in one on any golf course is a rare achievement and generally leads to some excitement, there clearly was great excitement at Dromoland last week when not one, not two but three holes in one were recorded.

Two of these were at the par 3 seventh hole where Emer McGrath and Shane O’Brien had reason to celebrate. The third hole in one was recorded at the par 4 15th hole where Mark Gallagher aced his tee shot.

Last week’s members competition at the club was won by Paudie Hayes with 42 points from Patrick Marnane with a similar score. Brian Arthur was third with 40 points followed by John Hourigan with 40 while Cathal Ruane won the gross with 39.

In the 9 hole competition Patrick Marnane was the winner with 19 from club captain John Casey with a similar score while Patrick McCoy was third with 18.

The winners of the team of four competition (two scores to count and all four counting at the 11th were Darragh Murphy (18), John Reidy (18), Colin Higgins (23) and Niall McMahon (18) with 109 points.

They had five to spare over James Casey (21), Mike Daffy(15), James Corry (5) and Niall Heaney (19). In third spot with 101 points were Gerry Barrett (17), Deborah Roughan (36), Darragh Gough (9) and Pat Horgan (27).
