Laura Brennan’s message in promoting the HPV vaccine will be amplified this evening (Monday) with the airing of a documentary telling her story on RTÉ ONE.
This Is Me has been available to view on the RTÉ Player since the end of May with viewers left emotional following the power of Laura’s message in encouraging individuals to get the HPV vaccine and prevent related cancers. It was the single most watched show on the Player during its first week.
During her terminal diagnosis, Laura was a relentless advocate for the uptake of the vaccine and Minister for Health, Simon Harris credited the Clare woman for a nineteen percent rise in the amount of people getting the vaccination.
Produced by Sinead Kennedy, This Is Me follows Laura as she undergoes treatment, completes promotional work for the HSE and her everyday life meeting with family, friends and her beloved dog. The documentary will be broadcast at 9:35pm.
Since her death in March of this year, the Brennan family have been very active in continuing to spread Laura’s message including the launch of a jersey campaign where clubs all across the world have placed the HPV logo on the centre of their clothing to raise further awareness.
