Cratloe deservedly advanced to their fifth consecutive Senior Football Championship Semi-Final after a powerful finish saw them produce a dramatic seven point turnaround to end St Joseph’s Miltown’s two year reign in Cusack Park on Sunday evening.
It was effectively a case of all’s well that ends well for Cratloe after an injury-time brace from Diarmuid Ryan cemented a place in Sunday’s quarter-final against holders St Joseph’s Miltown.
With Kilmurry Ibrickane, Lissycasey and St Breckan’s safely into the final four of the senior football championship, the semi-final line-up will be completed this weekend as four teams vie for just one solitary spot in in a two match blitz, writes Eoin Brennan
Having reached the pinnacle of a historic County Senior Hurling and Football Championship double in 2014, a feat not realised in 100 years, Cratloe were always going to be scrutinised by that standard ever since.
Lissycasey have booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the Clare SFC causing an upset by defeating Cratloe.
A stellar lineup of games are on the cards in the opening round of the Clare SHC, Cratloe’s first outing against Kilmaley is certainly among them.
