A “subsiding road” in Cratloe is posing a danger to motorists, local representatives have flagged.

Staff within the Shannon Municipal District are to carry out an investigation on the R462 adjacent to Cratloe Cross and directly opposite the cul-de-sac.

It follows lobbying from Cllr PJ Ryan (IND) who tabled a motion on the matter at a recent meeting of the Shannon MD. Cllr Pat O’Gorman (FF) seconded the proposal.

He flagged that the “road is subsiding, it is quite dangerous, the traffic has a tendency to swerve from where the road is subsiding”. Communication with residents as to what must be done is essential, Cllr Ryan added.

Senior executive engineer, Tom Mellett said any repairs required would be scheduled upon completion of their investigation.
