PÁDRAIG Ó CÉIDIGH’S shock resignation as Shannon Group Chairman has prompted Shannon Chamber to seek an emergency meeting with the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan (GP).

Disappointment has been expressed by Shannon Chamber with the sudden resignation of Ó Céidigh who had been appointed to the role in September.

At the time of the former Aer Arann CEO and founder’s announcement as Shannon Group Chair, the Chamber highlighted that he brought the ideal credentials to this post at a critically important time for Shannon Airport, particularly his background in aviation, his understanding of the importance of connectivity to the western seaboard and his skills and track record as an entrepreneurial businessman.

President of Shannon Chamber, Stephen Keogh was worried with the departure of the Connemara native. “Mr Ó Céidigh’s decision to step down just as the airport is beginning to win back connectivity traction post pandemic and as discussions re Shannon Heritage are ongoing is hugely concerning”.

Clonlara based Keogh who is a Managing partner of Sellors LLP confirmed that Shannon Chamber is “seeking an urgent meeting with the Minister for Transport to assess the role of the Chair of Shannon Group Plc”.

He explained that they wish to discuss with Minister Eamon Ryan (GP) “the rationale for such a decision, and to express the need for certainty and continuity at chairperson level in Shannon Group plc, whose constituent businesses are critical infrastructural assets in the Mid-West region”.
