Officials within Clare County Council are confident road markings at the roundabout outside one of Shannon’s two secondary schools will be renewed before staff and students return to school.

An appeal to renew road markings around roundabouts “in the particular the black and yellow markings” at the roundabout outside St Patrick’s Comprehensive School was lodged by Cllr Donna McGettigan (SF) at a recent meeting of the Shannon Municipal District.

The proposal was seconded by fellow Shannon representative, Cllr Gerry Flynn (IND).

Senior executive engineer, Tom Mellett in response said the works would be included in the current works programme for their contractor. “I am estimating completion of the current works list before the end of August,” he stated.
