There was room for everyone at the Hope Café in Shannon as their parent and toddler group, Hope Tea and Tots celebrated the opening of their new soft-play area nicknamed ‘The Ark’.

Deirdre Power of Clare County Council and Eileen McKee, wife of the late Cllr. Mike McKee and a regular volunteer at Tea & Tots were on hand to cut the ribbon. The play frame was co-funded by the LCDC through the Community Enhancement Scheme and Shannon Christian Church, the operators of Hope Café.

Community worker Elton Good told The Clare Echo, “It is hoped that the new play-frame will be of great benefit to local tots and their parents, grandparents/guardians and childminders, The Tea & Tots group currently runs Tuesday and Thursday mornings, with a wide variety of activities on offer; including mini-cars and mega-blocks, Play Doh, painting and parachute games; balloon twisting and dancing, a matted baby area, toys and tea’n’toast.

Good concluded, “The warm and relaxed café setting provides an ideal venue for parents and kids alike to chat and make new friends”.
