Emergency repairs at the site of a former national in Kildysart are to take place, local authority officials have confirmed.

Road repairs and maintenance will be carried on the road “immediately south” of the Old Effernan National School in Kildysart, senior executive engineer in the West Clare Municipal District, Alan Kennelly confirmed.

Cllr PJ Kelly (FF) had tabled the motion calling for the works and was seconded in his endeavours by Cllr Gabriel Keating (FG).

Drainage issues on the southern side of the hill towards Labasheeda are adding to the problem, Kelly believed. “It is not safe,” he insisted. Water is doing the “primary damage to the surface,” the Lissycasey man stated.
