President Tony McNamara’s prize was the competition st Shannon at the weekend when Kieran Kirby (12) was the winner with 62. He had three to spare over Brian Quane (15).

In third place was David Wallace (10) with 65) followed by Andrew Carr (15) with 66 and Aaron Costelloe (14) with 66. The gross was won by Edward Hickey (scratch) with 71.

Kevin Stanford (7) won category A with 67 from John O’Connell (8) with 68.

Category B was won by Kevin Hehir senior (17) with 67 from Maurice Hartery (9) with 67. Category C was won by Conor McMahon (18) with 66 from Barry Hayes (27) with 67.

Aidan Mannix (8) won the past president’s category with 74 while the guests section was won by Fergie Tuohy (14) with 40 points while the lady guest section won win by Paula McCann.

In the ladies section the winner was Margaret Ryan (34) with 70 from Mary Park (41), also with 70. Dympna Hogan (28) was third with 71 followed by Mary Sheehan (20) with 73. Noeleen Neylon (11) won the gross with 82. The category winners were Hilary Cleim (12) with 74, Brid Walsh (19) with 73, Honor Kinehan (31) with 73 and Mary McGuane (38) with 73.

Woodstock Golf Club:

Senior captain John O’Donovan’s prize was played for at Woosstock last week when Noel Casey (17) emerged with the spoils with 45 points
In category 1 (8 to 14 handicap) the winner was Michael Canty (12) with 36 points from John Mc Grath (11) with 35.

In category 2 (15 to 20 handicap) the winner was Tony Coote (19) with 43 points from Brendan Keogh (17) with 38 points.

Category 3 (handicaps 21 and over) was won by Brendan Arthur (27) with 34 points from Greg Fogarty (27) with 32 points. Brendan Nevin (33) won the guests section with 35 points.

In the Simon O’Donnell matchplay final Martin White beat Gerry Griffey on the 19th.

In the Michael Cullinan memorial cup the winner was John Mulcahy (10) with 43 points while Alan Markham (6) won the gross with 31 points.

Bernardo Kelly (8) with 36 points, Niall Gleeson (14) with 42 points and Alan Garrihy (19 with 38 points were the category winners.

In the category for handicaps 19 and over the winner was Tony Barrett (28) with 40 points from Frankie Slattery (21) with 34 points.

The weekly singles continues on this Thrsday while the competition t the weekend will be the Specsavers sponsored July medal.

In the ladies August medal category A was won by Niamh O’Regan (11) with 7 nett while category B was won by Kathleen McEnery (39) with 73 nett.

Winner of the ladies July medal at Woodstock was Imelda Duffy with 66 nett.

The ladies 18 hole club championship, sponsored by Al Hayes Motors, Ennis, will be the competition on this Sunday.

The weekly open singles winner was Noel Mulcahy (14) with 42 points while the gross winner was Declan Reidy (7) with 33 points.

The category winners were Mark Sweeney (9) with 42 points, Mike Liddy (13) with 38 points and Mike Horgan (30) with 37 points.

Ennis Golf Club:

The Haven Pharmacy (Hollys) sponsored 18 hole ladies fourball at Ennis was won by Monica Finnerty (25) and Una O’Reilly (27) with 47 points. They had four to spare over Rose Enright (18) and Geraldine O’Rourke (29).

The front 9 winners were Bridie (17) and Peg Hanrahan (15) with 23 points while the back 9 winners were Helen Harnett (24) and Nuala Corry (22) with a similar score.

In the 9 hole competition the overall winner was Carmel Cummins (23) with 23 points Carmel Verling (11) with 18 points, Bridie Keane (17) with 19 points and Therese Lillis (24) with 20 points.

Last week’s ladies seniors outing was won by Mary Murray. Margaret McEnery and Kathleen Pyne with 38.1 from Bernie Brooks Maeve O’Grady and Eileen Daly with 38.6.

The Jackie Morris memorial competitions dominated proceedings at Ennis at the weekend.

In the ladies section the winner was Attracta Williams (33) with 44 point and she won by four from Ceilie Reilly (36). They were followed by Bernadette Morrissey (44), Audrey McEnery (41), Patricia Moroney (19), Bridget Hoey (25) each with 38 points with seventh spot filled by Peg Hanrahan (17) with 37 points.

Ann A Gallery (11) won the gross with 22 points. The category winners were Elaine Kelly (17) with 36 points, Kathleen Pyne (33) with 36 points and Carmel Cummins (46) with 36 points.

In the Jackie Morris memorial men’s section the winner was Raymond Power (17) with 42 points from David Considine (12) with a similar score. They were followed by Leo Herbert (15) and Michael M Vaughan (20) both with 41 points while Con Daly (27) Brian O’Gorman (11) and John Nevin (17) each scored 40 points.

The gross was won by Kieran Fox with 36 points whie the category winners were Michael Meagher (8) with 39 points, Padraig Cusack (14) with 40 points and Patrick Rutherford (32) with 38 points
Sean Myatt had the longest drive while Tom Gallery was nearest the pin.

In the Friday open singles the winner was Mark Kenny (15) with 39 points while the gross was won by Cian Breslin with 32 points.

The Tuesday fourball was won by Tommy Heath and Declan Hanley with 36 points from Paul Mockler and Patrick Murphy with 33, John Gavin and James Corcoran with 32 Ronan Herbert and Pat P McInerney with 32 points Noel Kenny and Leo Herbert also with 32 points.

Meanwhile last week’s ladies seniors competition was won by Alice D’Arcy, Margaret Flanagan and Maureen Moloney with 53.1 from
Kathleen Pyne, Peig Cleary and Jackie Quinlan with 56.6 with third spot filled by Phil Butler, Margaret McEnery and Gert Finn with 56.7.

Kilrush Golf Club:

Presidents Declan O’Donovan and Dr. Mary O’Sullivan’s prizes were played for at Kilrush at the weekend when there was a big entry in both sections.

In the men’s competition John Stapleton (23) was the winner with 42 points and he had one to spare over Andrew O’Carroll (16). Tom Dillon (12), also with 41 points, was third followed by Sean Nagle (12) with 40, John McNeilis (20) with 39 and Geremiah Brennan (13) with 37 points.

Tom Clancy with 32 points won the gross while the category winners were Feargal S Crowley (13) with 36 points, Michael Studdert (17) with 37 points and Noel Kilkenny (20) with 34 points.

The nines were won by Niall Cotter (12) with 21 points and Michael Miniter (15) with 20 points.
Carmel O’Flaherty (52) won the ladies competition with 39 points from Liz Rigney (28) with 38 points. They were followed by Claire Pyne (24) with 38 points, Mary Downes (32) with 34 and Sheila O’Grady (20) also with 34.

Anne Gallagher won the gross with 21points while the nines were won by Joan O’Malley (22) with 17 points and Imelda Griffin (52) with 19 points.

The category winners were Mary Bolton (17) with 33 points, Agnes Shannon (24) with 32 points and Ursula Lineen (31) with 33 points.
Hanora O’Dea-Kilkenny won the 9 hole competition.

Dromoland Golf Club:

The golfer of the year 18 hole strokeplay competition at Dromoland was won by Derek Ryan (4) with 67. He had a shot to spare over George Smith (5) with 68 while Paudie Dorgan (11) was third with 69.

The 20 and over category was won by Alan O’Flanagan (23) with 72 while the gross was won by Killian Howard (-1) with 72.

In the 9 hole competition the winners was Mervyn Frazer with 18 points from Patrick Vaughan with a similar score with third spot filled by John Collins with 17 points.

The winner of the ladies 18 hole stableford competition was Katrina O’Neill with 39 points which included a hole in one at the 17 from Leslie O’Flynn with a similar score. Dolores Fox with 36 points was third while Joan Ryan won the gross.

The ladies 9 hole stableford competition was won by Maria olfer with 21 points from Frances Bergin with a similar score.

East Clare Golf Club:

Margaret Lynch (30) with 41 points won the ladies 18 hole stableford competition at East Clare at the weekend.

In second place was Brid Hayes (18) with 38 points while the gross was won by Siobhan Shanahan (15) with 21.

The ladies Wednesday competition was won by Mary Hogan, Eimear O Halloran, Mary Collins and Pauline Nugent from Breda McCarthy, Helen Conway, Hannah Guinnane and Mary Stillman.

In the men’s open singles the winner was Darren Rosney with 45 points from Robbie Dormer with 43 points with third spot filled by Gerry Nugent with 42 points. Anthony Sweeney won the gross while Jason Donnell has the longest drive.

Gort Golf Club:

The Friday open singles at Gort was won by Neil O’Halloran (37) with 44 .

The category winners were Brian Mooney (7) from Clontarf golf club with 39 points, Maurice Murphy (14) from Swords golf club with 39 points and Luke McCarthy (22) with 40 points.

The ladies open 18 hole singles stableford competition was won by Yvonne Hogan (22) 30 points.
