“NO STRAIGHT FORWARD RESOLUTION” exists for flooding on the Rossmanagher Rd in Sixmilebridge, Clare County Council have admitted.
An update for flooding under the bridge on the Rossmanagher Rd in Sixmilebridge was requested by Cllr John Crowe (FG).
He stated, “this is causing a major disruption to people living in the Rossmanagher and Cappagh South area as the road has been closed due to flooding”. Crowe described the area as “a saucer” with support voiced by Cllr Pat O’Gorman (FF) and Cllr Gerry Flynn (IND).
Heavy rainfall in February resulted in the area becoming “impassable for some road users,” senior executive engineer in the Shannon Municipal District, Tom Mellett acknowledged. A crew were allocated to clear the drains but difficulties were encountered, he explained, “due to the nature of the road and surrounding ground levels it was not possible to alleviate the situation as the water had nowhere to run off”.
Mellett continued, “The office has cleared this drain in advance of the winter in order to maximise existing drainage capacity here. There is no straight forward resolution to this issue but the Municipal District will seek a positive outcome”.
