Dromoland Golf Club recently held its night of champions while there was a duel between the Donnachas in the U12 county matchplay final.

David O’Brien was the winner of the weekend singles at Dromoland with 46 points. He had one to spare over Ryan Enright with third spot filled by Stephen O’Donoghue with 42 points. Seamus Cusack won the gross with 36 points while David Reidy was the winner of the section for those over 18 handicap with 40 points.

In the ladies 9 hole stableford turkey/wine/chocolate competition the win ner was Mairead Toomey with 20 points. In second place was Leslie O’Flynn with a similar score followed by Julie Fitzgerald with 19 points with Joan Ryan in fourth spot, also with 19 points.

The U12 County matchplay final took place at Dromoland Castle on Sunday contested between Donnacha Mahon and Donnacha Halpin in splendid conditions for golf. Donnacha Halpin was victorious on the day

Kilrush Golf Club:

Last week’s Winter turkey weekly competition at Kilrush was won by Damien Carey (13) with 33 points from John K. Ryan (10) with 31 points with third spot filled by Pat Mulcahy (13) with 28 points.

Ennis Golf Club:

The ladies October league, sponsored by Helen Gallery Auctioneer, has been proving hugely successful at Ennis.

In week one, forty nine golfers played and the winner was Mary McMahon (25) with 31 points from Sinead Hegarty (17) with 30 points. Berry O’Reilly (35) with 29 points was third followed by Lourda Fox (25) with 29 points, Rose Enright (28) with 29 points and Ethna Murphy with 27 points.

Rose Enright (28) was the winner in week two with 32 points from Ann A. Gallery (18) with 31 points with Lourda Fox (25) in third place with 30 points. Bridie Hanrahan (20) was fourth with 28 points followed by Yvonne Keohane (18) with 28 points and Barbara Foley (21) with 27 points. Forty eight members played.

Week three resulted in victory for Patricia Moroney (20) with 31 points with second spot filled by Kathleen Frehill (39) with a similar score. Brid Cunningham (24) was third with 30 points and she was followed by Lourda Fox (25) with 30 points. Suzanne Deane (15) was fifth with 29 points with Peg Hanrahan (18) in sixth spot with 28 points. Forty seven members played.

Kate Keohane (20) was the week four winner with 29 points from Carmel Verling (23) with 28 points. Maeve Hoey (31) was third with 27 points followed by Patricia Moroney (20) with 25 points with Geraldine O’Rourke (33) in fifth spot, also with 25 points. Twenty nine members played.

Lourda Fox (25) was the winner in week five with 28 points with second spot filled by Ann Pyne Gallery (29) with 26 points. Patricia Moroney (20) was third with 25 points followed by Anne Casey (28) with 24 points. Twenty eight members played.

Based on the best three cards, the overall winner was Lourda Fox (25) with a total of 89 points while the winner based on the best two cards was Rose Enright (28) with 61 points.

In the weekly seniors outing last week the winners were Mary Glynn, Eileen (T) Corry and Phil Butler with 40 points from Carmel Verling, Maureen Moloney and Mary Gardner with 35 points while third spot was filled by Nuala D’Auria, Bríd Cunningham and Liz Kelly who also scored 35 points.

In the November spirits 14 hole entry competition the week one winner was Helen Gallery (25) with 32 points from Ann A. Gallery (18) with 31 points. Claire Ruane (19) was third with 29 points followed by Mary Nagle (27) with 28 points with fifth spot filled by Mary McMahon who also scored 27 points.

Mary McMahon (12) won the 9 hole competition with 16 points from Flor Coffey (11) with 15 points with third spot filled by Phil Butler (13), also with 15 points.

Shannon Golf Club:
Mark Linnane (16) won the men’s 15 hole turkey singles competition at Shannon last week with 38 points. He had two to spare over Paul Ryan (27) with third spot filled by Eoin Hoctor (16) also with 36 points. Brendan Healy (18) was fourth with 35 points while Ian Fox (1) won the gross with 31 points.
