The men’s 18 hole singles stableford competition at Dromoland was won by Niall Woods with 42 points.

He had one to spare over Joe Walsh with Brian Hickey, also with 41 points, in third spot.

Tom Sayers, with 40 points, won the category for those with handicaps of 22 and over while Diarmuid O’Connor won the gross with 36 points.

Christy Cusack won the midweek nine hole competition with 21 points from Paul O’Brien with 20 and Sean Hayes with 19.

Jean Colleran with 70 won the ladies 18 medal 2 stroke competition from Anne Fahy with 73, Julie Fitzgerald with 74 and Linda Kochhar with 76. Mairead Toomey with 89 won the gross. Frances Bergin with 40 won the 9 hole stroke competition.

Ennis Golf Club:

The senior ladies outing at Ennis during the last week in April was won by Frances O’Reilly, Mary Gardner, Mary McMahon and Carmel Verling with 51 from Maeve O’Grady, Bernie Brooks and Claire Pyne with 46.

Last week’s outing was won by Carmel Verling, Margaret Flanagan and Eileen Daly with 69 and they were one ahead of Geraldine O’Mahoney, Brid Cunningham, Claire Kennelly and Joan Murphy.

Round 2 in the ladies Ardagh cup qualifier saw Mary Lenihan (18) win the silver medal section with 71 nett from Ann O’Loughlin (17) with 73. In the bronze medal section Ann Casey (29) won with 72 nett from Peggy Costello (23) with 73 nett.

In the 9 hole stableford competition the overall winner was Mary Walshe (17) with 20 points. Geraldine O’Rourke (14) won division 2 with 14 points, Bridie Keane (17) was the division 2 winner with 16 points while division 3 was won by Margaret Flanagan (19) with 17 points.
The May medal, an 18 hole competition will be played for on this Sunday when there will also be a 9 hole competition.

On June 14 the ladies will host an open day in aid of Motor neurone disease. The ladies section will host the play in pink day on July 12.

The Ennis men’s seniors social group played its seniors memorial day competition on Thursday May 4. The 18 holes singles competition was won by Eamon Connaughton with 43 points, from Gerard O Brien with 39 points with third spot filled by Richard O Connell on 38 points. The 9 holes competition was won by Michael Torpey on 16 points from Michael A Considine with 15 points with third place filled by Patrick O Reilly on 14 points.

Kilrush Golf Club:

Nevan Prendeville (12) was the winner of the Tom Nolan Tyres prize at Kilrush at the weekend with 39 points

In category 1 the winner was David Byrnes (15) with 39 points from Sean O’Connor (12) from Courtown with 38 points.

Category 2 was won by Joe Chambers (17) with 36 points with Cyril Kelly (16) in second place with 35 points.

Michael Twomey (20) won category 3 with 35 points from Matthew Dillon (23) with 33 points.

Michael Moloney (19) won the front 9 with 18 points while the back 9 was won by Michael Miniter (15) with 20 points.

Woodstock Golf Club:

David Quinn (17) won the April monthly meeting at Woodstock with 67 from Adrian Kearney (15) with a similar score. Callum Hayes (10) was third and he also returned 67.

The gross was won by Brian Gilligan (2) with 71.

Mike Reen (5) won category 1 with 71, category 2 was won by Ronan O’Looney (16) with 70 while the category 3 winner was Paudie O’Connell(23) with 69.

There will be an open singles stableford competition this Thursday while there will be a club singles matchplay qualifier at the weekend.

Kathleen McEnery was the winner of the ladies 18 hole stableford competition at Woodstock on April 17/18 with 25 points.

The April 29 outing was won by Eilis Neville with 37 points while Marianne McGough was the May 7 winner with 31 points from Fran Feighery with 30 points.

East Clare Golf Club:

The ladies 18 hole stroke medal 1 competition at East Clare on April 30 was won by Catherine Minogue (23) with 70 nett.

Noreen Doyle (22) won category 1 with 76 nett while Bernie Cox (29) won category 2 with 78 with the category 3 honours going to Breda McCarthy (39) with 84.

The ladies Wednesday competition on May 3 was won by Phil Burke, Mary Farrell and Marie A. Kelly from Connie McKenna, Kay Grimes and Mary Stack with Noreen Skehan, Helen Conway and Siobhan Tiernan in third place.

The senior men’s competitionon May 2 was won by Pat Duggan, Jim Willisand John Farrell from Jim Fahy, Brendan Moloney and Martin McKeogh with third spot filled by Nick Obolewicz, John Nihill and Sean Ahern.

In the men’s 4 club challenge on May 7 the winner was Paul Hayes with 41 points,

Gort Golf Club:

The Bob Forde trophy was played for at Gort at the weekend when the winner of this men’s competition, was Colie Smyth (21) with 38 points.

Sean Hanbury (13) won category 1 with 37 points. Category 2 was won by Malachy Whyte (18) with 37 points while category 3 was won by Tommy Glynn (25) also with 37 points. Gavin Lally (3) won the gross with 32 points.

Last week’s ladies competition was an 18 hole singles stableford event where Anne Connolly (21) won category 1 with 40 points. Anna Kerins (24) won category 2 with 40 points, Tracey Brennan (32) won category 3 with 36 points while the category 4 winner was Patricia Lyons (42) with 26 points.

The ladies 9 hole singles competition was won by Jacinta O’Grady (15) with 17 points.

Sixmilebridge Golf Society:

Daire Burke had his first win when he came out top in the Sixmilebridge golf society’s outing to Woodstock on Saturday. Adam Merriman was second followed in third place by Bobby Deegan with Conor Deasy in fourth spot. Eric and Vinny Purcell won the nines

Haven Arms society:

Patrick Coleman won the Haven Arms golf society’s outing to Woodstock last Saturday with Dominick Enright in second place.
