MOTORISTS in Co Clare are experiencing delays this Friday evening following a multi-vehicle collision on the M18.

Shortly before 17:00 on Friday evening, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on the M18 between junction 10 (Newmarket-on-Fergus) and junction 11 (Dromoland/Quin). The crash resulted in the hospitalisation of one person.

Traffic heading north-bound in the direction of Clarecastle, Ennis, West Clare, North Clare and Galway has been diverted via Newmarket-on-Fergus which is causing considerable delays in the village.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the collision on the M18.

Delays are to be expected for motorists with drivers encouraged to consider a different journey route or start time where possible. “When approaching the collision location, drive with caution, reduce your speed and obey instructions from emergency services,” a spokesperson for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) said.

Normal levels of traffic flow restored shortly before 18:00 when the incident was cleared.
