Swimming bans have been implemented for two more Clare beaches while an advisory not to enter the water has been put in place for Lahinch.
24 hours after a do not swim notice was lifted at White Strand in Miltown Malbay, a temporary prohibition on swimming has been introduced at the location.
Spanish Point has also been issued with a swimming ban ahead of the August Bank Holiday weekend while an advisory not to swim is in place for Lahinch.
Samples taken on Thursday showed elevated bacterial levels in the bathing water as a result of heavy rainfall in West Clare which caused discharges into or near the bathing area.
Prohibitions remain in place at Kilkee and Quilty.
“There is ongoing monitoring at the above locations, and Clare County Council is in consultation with the HSE,” a spokesperson told The Clare Echo.
