Tuesday evening’s scheduled meeting to outline details of the strategic review of Clare GAA has been postponed.
It has been agreed by Clare GAA and the strategic review committee to send the finalised document to clubs before a meeting to examine its contents is held.
Clare GAA, Vice Chairman Kieran Keating had told the September meeting of the Board of plans to hold a meeting at Hotel Woodstock to present findings from the review. The Naomh Eoin clubman is the Board’s representative on the strategic review committee.
At a meeting of the Clare GAA Executive in Cusack Park on Sunday, it was agreed and accepted that the clubs would have to study the document before the presentation was held.
Pat Fitzgerald, secretary of Clare GAA in correspondence to clubs on Monday morning stated, “I wish to advise that the meeting of the Strategic Plan Group has been cancelled for the moment and we will be in touch regarding the reconvened presentation re same. I will forward all documentation relating to the Strategic Plan Review to all clubs as soon as I receive same”.
Clubs are due to be issued with the report on Wednesday after it is finalised. A refixed date for a presentation on the findings is expected to be announced soon after with members of the strategic committee keen to hold a special convention at the beginning of November.
Among the main talking points from the review will be the recommended sale of Clareabbey which clubs are understood to be strongly against while the proposals to bring in full-time officials such as a CEO has been met more favourably.
