A large Garda presence was required to arrest one man in the village of Newmarket-on-Fergus on Wednesday.
Up to eight Gardaí were required to arrest one male in his thirties in the heart of Newmarket-on-Fergus on Wednesday. It took a period of approximately ten minutes for the man to be taken from his residence to the Garda squad car.
The Clare Echo understands that the man attempted to flee Garda custody but was detained and held on the ground as handcuffs were put on him.
An Garda Síochána arrested the individual in relation to an assault on Main St in Newmarket-on-Fergus.
After the arrest, the man was taken to Shannon Garda Station. He is due to appear at a special siting at Ennis District Court today (April 1st 2021).
