Lifford caused the shock of the weekend when they dumped Shannon Town Utd A out of the Banner Flooring and Carpets Clare Cup with Tulla Utd recording a dramatic win in a penalty shootout.

Lifford progressed to the next round in the Banner Flooring and Carpets Clare Cup when they overcame a fancied Shannon Town A side on Sunday.
Extra time was required to produce a winner in this tie with the Ennis outfit eventually coming through by the odd goal in seven.
Lifford raced into a 2-0 lead but Shannon Town pulled one back before the break. They levelled in the second half but Lifford regained the lead soon after. Town hit back again to level and force the tie to extra time.
The game was decided five minutes from the end of the second period of extra time through an own goal when a Lifford corner ended up in the net via the head of Cody Waller.
Goalscorers for the winners were Niall Guinnane, Godsway Kuffour, Mattie Davenport and the own goal. Shannon Town’s replies came from Gary O’Connell (2) and Jack Ryan.

Avenue United A booked their place in the third round of the Clare Cup with this easy win over Corofin on Sunday.
Three days earlier the Ennis side were 10-0 winners over Manus B in round one of the competition.
On Sunday, Mark Roche scored five while Elias Kunz, Gary Roche and Dylan Barry were the other scorers.
Corofin’s reply came from Jack Keane, a youths players who made his junior debut at the weekend.
Eoghan Thynne scored four, Gary Roche had a hat trick while Elias Kunz,
Thomas Hehir and Dylan Casey also found the net in Avenue’s midweek win over Manus B.

Tulla won 3-2 on penalties
A penalty shoot out was requires to separate neighbours Tulla United and Rhine Rovers in this Clare Cup round two tie at the Cragg on Sunday.
Half an hour into the game Rhine Rovers took the lead through Gary Hogan and they held this advantage until Darrgh Corry headed home from a Jack McSweeney corner midway through the second half.
Tulla supporters were cheering five minutes earlier when Corry again found the net but this was ruled out for an offside infringement.
Tulla had the better of exchanges in extra time but they nearest they came to scoring was when Emmet Lynch’s header rebounded off the crossbar. Lynch was one of the stars in the under 19 team’s Munster quarter final victory on the previous day.
In the penalty shoot out Ray Bane, Eoin Hassett and Jack McSweeney were the scorers for the winners while Conor Grogan and Gary Hogan scored for Rhine Rovers before Cillian Duggan saw his effort rebound off the crossbar.

Shannon Hibs booked their place in the next round of the Clare Cup thanks to victory by the odd goal in three over Moher Celtic on Sunday.
Billy Connors and Ciaran McKee were the scorers for the Shannon side who led 2-0 before Moher got through for their goal which came from Joe Hanrahan just a minute after Hibs had scored their second.
Noel Hynes saw his effort hit the post in the final attack of the game.
