“Jagged stones” have caused vehicle damage in Parteen.

Calls to complete remedial works “to make safe face of roadside ditch” on the L-3062 at Heffernan’s Bend by Larkin’s Cross was issued by Cllr Michael Begley (IND) before the Shannon Municipal District, his motion was seconded by Cllr John Crowe (FG). Begley flagged, “jagged stones are projecting and have caused vehicle damage”.

Senior executive engineer, Tom Mellett said that the MD will liaise with the relevant landowner “and take the appropriate measures to ensure this obstacle is removed”. He was confident remedial work would take place swiftly.

One car was “pretty badly damaged” at the location, the Clonlara representative noted. He explained that two ditches on the edge of the road existed, “there are articulated trucks coming from the Gillogue side and the current traffic bringing materials to Springfield so we need action sooner rather than later,” he added.
