INAGH/KILNAMONA and Clarecastle are still unbeaten following the fifth round in Division 1A and 1B of the FutureTicketing Clare Cup.

All fifth round ties took place across the Bank Holiday weekend except the clash of East Clare neighbours Scariff and Feakle which was postponed as a mark of respect following the death of former Scariff chairman Vinnie Henchy. That eagerly awaited clash will go ahead this weekend.

Leaders Inagh/Kilnamona made it five wins from five outings when they accounted for Crusheen while in Division 1B, Clarecastle did likewise with victory over Tubber.

O’Callaghans Mills and Whitegate got much needed victories when they accounted for Clonlara and Bodyke respectively while there were two draws in Division 1B with Ballyea sharing the points with Wolfe Tones while Broadford and St. Joseph’s Doora/Barefield did likewise

The sides continued to be evenly matched in the second half when Newmarket’s second goal which came from Peter Power, proved to be a crucial score.

As has been the case throughout this league to date, all sides have been short regulars due to involvement with county teams and due to injury and this was the case for these sides on Saturday.

The fact that there is a keen rivalry between these neighbouring parishes ensured that this was a competitive contest with the result in doubt to the final whistle.
