A LAHINCH REPRESENTATIVE has expressed frustration with the substance of replies issued by Irish Water.

Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District, Cllr Shane Talty (FF) called on Irish Water to replace the remaining cast iron water network in Ennistymon from the Fire station to the Garda station and into the main street to join with new pipes laid in 2019. The proposal was seconded by Cllr Joe Garrihy (FG).

Senior executive engineer in the Council’s water department, Anthony McNamara said the matter would be referred to Irish Water.

An annoyed Talty told a sitting of the West Clare MD that when the matter was referred to Irish Water they failed to answer his question and instead “told us a good news story about a section already being done and I congratulate them on that.

“I don’t know what jinx I have but they don’t answer any question I have for them,” the postmaster added. “It is another fruitless exercise with Irish Water,” Talty remarked.
