ADAM HOGAN AND JACK KIRWAN are to make their National Hurling League debuts for the Clare senior hurlers this weekend while Doora/Barefield’s David Conroy gets his first start in the competition.

Brian Lohan has included the duo at corner back and midfield respectively for their first round clash against Westmeath which commences at 2pm in Cusack Park, Ennis.

Kirwan partners Cathal Malone in the middle of the field with his Sixmilebridge clubmate, Seadna Morey returning to action in the competition for the first time in two years. Morey is in the full-back line alongside Hogan and Conor Cleary.

Former All Star nominee Eibhear Quilligan starts in goals with David McInerney handed the number six jersey where he will be flanked by Diarmuid Ryan and Aaron Fitzgerald.

David Conroy gets his first start in the NHL wearing number eleven with All Star David Fitzgerald and Ruan’s Robin Mounsey on either side.

After missing all of last year’s championship due to injury, Aidan McCarthy makes a welcome return to the county colours in a dangerous full-forward line that includes Mark Rodgers and Peter Duggan.
