SUCCESSIVE WINS in the National Football League are vital for Clare if they are to have aspirations of securing promotion to Division 1, manager Colm Collins has said.
Clare’s footballers are the visitors to Pairc Tailteann in Navan this Sunday in what will be Colm O’Rourke’s first home game in the League since his appointment as Royal County boss last year.
O’Rourke’s reign began with an impressive away win against Cork while Collins’ Clare had a dramatic final rally to overcome Louth by a single point in Cusack Park.
Collins said it was now essential for Clare to build on their winning start. “The stakes are a bit higher this year, we’ll be going to Navan and hoping to get two points there”.
“Every game is vital, if you could get a couple of wins behind you then you’re looking at the top end of the table rather than the bottom, we’ve been in Division 2 long enough now so we’re trying to go the other way if we can”.
