Saturday’s Dr Harty Cup final has been postponed.

Munster GAA confirmed the game would not be proceeding forty six minutes before referee John O’Halloran was due to throw the sliotar in.

A pitch inspection had been carried out after 8:30 with officials then announcing the game would be proceeding.

However at the eleventh hour, Munster GAA stated that the issuing of an orange weather warning by Met Éireann had forced the postponement of the keenly contested affair.

Hundreds of spectators had already gathered in Mallow when the announcement was made.

The Clare Echo understands that several members of both panels are both going on school trips abroad in the coming week.

Details of a refixed final are yet to be announced.
