ST PAT’S AFC KILMIHIL have been crowned Shannon Hotel Supplies Ladies Premier Division Champions.

A 1-1 draw against Hermitage FC was enough for the West Clare side to claim the league with captain Aoife O’Malley netting the all-important goal for St Pat’s.

It’s a historic first title for the Kilmihil club who are managed by Mark Wade and Shaun Honan.

Hermitage needed a win to claim the title but could only muster a draw with former Lifford Ladies star Mary Allen scoring their only goal. The Ennis club finished second in the top tier with on 23 points, two points off the champions who had 25 points to their name.

Tulla hit Coole for five

Daragh Corry netted a hat-trick as Tulla Utd picked up an important 5-1 win against Coole to leap frog the Gort side and jump out of the relegation zone.

Dara Ryan and Dan Withycome also found the target in what could prove to be a vital win for Mike Moloney’s charges.

Shannon & Kilrush serve up a cracker

A total of eleven goals, five in the opening half and six in the second gave supporters plenty to absorb during the recent meeting of Shannon Town and Kilrush Rangers.

Shannon struck first on seven minutes before Trevor Clancy equalised on thirteen minutes. Steo Dolan’s Shannon outfit had three more goals before the half-time whistle to hold a 4-1 advantage.

Chiokoye Godwin’s introduction at half-time settled Kilrush and they began to play the football they are capable of. Kirill Antonov was brought down in the box and Clancy expertly dispatched the ball to the back of the net.

Shannon replied to extend the lead to 5-2 but Godwin proving to a real handful struck for two goals to claw it back to 5-4 with 74 minutes on the clock.

An extra gear was found by Shannon Town to add two more goals and secure the win. Both Kai Khetan and Kieran Hackett scored twice for the winners while Liam Boland, Ben O’Neill and TJ O’Dwyer also raided for goals.

Avenue get over The Bridge

A dominant display saw Avenue Utd keep up their bid to retain the Clare Cup and Premier Division when they put five goals past Bridge Utd.

David Russell’s side raided for all goals in the opening half with Adam Fitzpatrick drawing back a consoltation goal for Bridge Utd in the second half.

Elias Kunz found Mark Roche in space before his cross was met by Tomás Hehir to put them one goal up on seven minutes. Hehir headed home another Roche cross to double their advantage on sixteen minutes.

Kunz made a strong run before crossing to the back post where a Vincent Onouha shot was block but the rebound fell to Nnabuike Nneji who finished well to top left corner.

Onouha made no mistake moments later when he finished a cross from Eoghan Thynne to the net to make it 4-0 inside the opening twenty minutes.

Goal number five arrived on the thirty minute mark when a cross from Mark Roche was finished well by Elias with a great strike from the edge of the box.

There could have been a sixth goal for the Roslevan club but Mark Roche had a penalty saved on sixty minutes.

An excellent strike from distance saw Fitzpatrick pull back a goal for the hosts on seventy two minutes.
