GATES at the entrance to a house in Newmarket-on-Fergus “won’t even open or close,” due to the impact of flooding, an elected representative has highlighted.

Flooding on the roadway to a residence in Mogullaun in Newmarket-on-Fergus along the L3166 was brought to the attention of local authority officials by Cllr Pat O’Gorman (FF) before a meeting of the Shannon Municipal District.

O’Gorman asked Council staff to try find a solution “to solve the problem of flooding” at the residence. A commitment was given by senior executive engineer, Tom Mellett that flooding at the location would be assessed and attempts made to rectify it.

At times of major flooding “it gets so bad that the gates of the house won’t even open or close due to the impact of flooding on the electrical systems,” the Cratloe representative stated. Cllr Pat McMahon (FF) voiced his support while seconding the proposal.
