St Breckans kept their unbeaten Cusack Cup run intact as Ennistymon’s bid for honours took another step in the right direction, Doonbeg’s winning run ended at the hands of Clondegad while Éire Óg recorded their first win of the season.

In the Garry Cup, Corofin recorded a fourth win in succession, O’Currys and St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield have yet to lose a game with Kilmihil and Cooraclare claiming wins.

Ennistymon maintained their challenge for Cusack Cup honours with this victory over Kilmurry Ibrickane at Ennistymon on Bank Holiday Monday morning

The winners led by the odd point in nine at the interval and the sides continued to be evenly matched after the break with Kilmurry going ahead by a point at the three quarter stage.

In the space of a couple of minutes the home side turned the tie in their favour when striking for 1-1, the goal coming from Ross O’Doherty and this steered them to the points.

First half goals from Padraig Kelly and Cian Jimmy Burke helped St. Breckans maintain their strong challenge for Cusack Cup honours when they accounted for Kildysart at Lisdoonvarna.

Kelly with 1-4 and Jamie Stack (0-7) were the main scorers for the winners while Diarmuid O’Donnell top scored for the visitors with 0-6, two more than Conor Hassett.

The win keept the Lisdoonvarna outfit in a strong position for honours with four victories from four starts in this campaign.

Doonbeg suffered their first loss in this season’s Cusack Cup when they went under to Clondegad at Shanahan McNamara Park on Bank holiday Monday.

At the end of a well contested first half the visitors led by the odd score in eleven and they went on to again outscore the home side by the minimum margin in the second half.

After an absence of a number of years, Gearoid O’Connell has returned to Ireland and he was introduced during the second half.

County champions Éire Óg got their first win of the season when they overcame Cusack Cup winners Miltown St. Josephs at Hennessy Park in Miltown on Monday.

Both sides were short a lot of regulars due to a combination of injuries and involvement with Clare teams.

The visitors led by the minimum margin at half time, 0-4 to 0-3 and they continued to hold the advantage in the second period. Substitute Mark McInerney was their goalscorer while Liam Hehir found the net for the home side.

Corofin remain top of the Division 2 football league (Garry Cup) after recording their fourth win in as many outings when they overcame holders Lissycasey.

This game produced some great scores from both sides and the lead changed hands on a number of occasions during the hour.

In the end the visitors emerged as worthy winners having led 2-7 to 1-8 at half time with the help of goals from Kevin Keane and Diarmuid Cahill.

Lissycasey had got off to a great start and led 1-1 to 0-0 after a few minutes, the goal coming from Niall Kelly.

Conor Meaney and Luke Griffin had second half goals for the home side but Eoin Davoran’s goal brought the visitors back on terms and they went on to seal a merited win on a day when Diarmuid and Gearoid Cahill, Kevin Keane and Sean O’Brien sparkled.

Kilmihil earned the bragging rights with this victory over their neighbours and arch rivals Shannon Gaels at the winner’s venue on Thursday night.

An evenly fought first half saw the teams go to the break on level terms, 1-4 to 0-7, the game’s only goal coming from Gearoid O’Grady.

Kilmihil opened a five point lead in the third quarter before the visitors rallied despite being reduced to fourteen men with the dismissal, on a second yellow card, of Michael O’Malley. The Gaels also had one of their mentors sent from the enclosure.
