Discover Ennis Heritage Day is taking place today, with families being encouraged to come along and enjoy the fun.

Taking place today (April 3) from 1-5pm, the free event has been organised by the Transition Year students of St. Flannan’s College and Gaelcholáiste an Chláir in collaboration with Experience Ennis and Shannon Heritage.

It’s going to be an afternoon jam-packed with activities and live entertainment. Heritage Activities will include historical reconstructions of Spinning Wool, Churning Butter, Iron-Age Weaponry and Strawcrafts. There will also be tons of live entertainment including trad music, Irish dancing, face painting, and lots lots more!  Free Student-Led Walking Tours will leave the Chapel Lane Market Building on the hour from 1 – 4pm. At 4pm in the Chapel Lane Market Building there will be Story-telling for adults and children (over 7 years of age) by the world-renowned Seanchaí, Edmund Lenihan.

This collaboration between the Transition Year students of St. Flannan’s College and Gaelcholáiste an Chláir is the first of two Teen Takeovers. On Sunday May 8th, students Colaiste Muire will present a Slow Fashion Event with family upcycling workshops in Junk Couture and tie-dye. Shop the vintage rails and trade in your once treasured clothes in a pop-up swop shop! Also on May 8th, Rice College TY students host the Family Games, an afternoon of fun and games with sport and family treasure hunts. Live music, dance and loads of entertainment!
