An Ennis family has been named as one of the winners of the Water Conservation Photo Competition ran by Green Schools in partnership with Irish Water.
Families all over Ireland were encouraged to save water by asking students to do water saving activities at home and for photographs to be shared by their parents on social media, winning families received waterproof cameras.
Áine Purcell had the winning entry in Ennis with her daughter Róisín and Róisín’s Grandad working together on a rainwater harvesting system.
Green Schools Manager, Cathy Baxter explained, “Through our water theme we encourage water saving in schools, at home, and in the community. However, parents/guardians are not always involved, and we want students to keep thinking about water saving when the schools are closed”.
