One man has been arrested following the seizure of suspected cannabis plants worth €18,500 in Miltown Malbay.

Shortly after 1:30pm on Tuesday, Gardaí from Kilrush executed a search warrant at a house in Miltown Malbay. While doing so, they uncovered 23 suspected cannabis plants which were at various stages of growth.

Analysis of the suspected drugs is to be carried out.

A man aged in his forties was arrested at the scene and was detained at Kilrush Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has since been released without charge. A file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecution.
