MINOR traffic delays have been experienced by West Clare motorists on Monday morning after a burnt out car required the attention of the emergency services.

A fire brigade from Ennis Fire Station responded to the incident which is understood to have occurred shortly before 8am on Monday morning. The car in question, believed to be a Peugeot 306 was in flames at Darragh on the outskirts of Ennis.

Members of An Garda Síochána were also called to the scene with a stop and go system implemented throughout the morning.

One Garda spokesperson told The Clare Echo that “no information” is known on the background to the case but confirmed that the occupant of the car sustained no injuries.

One passing motorists informed The Clare Echo that the alarm was raised by the driver of the car who was unharmed and managed to escape the car before it burst into flames.
