Requests have been lodged for resurfacing works to be completed at a busy tourist area in Doonbeg for next year.
Improvements to bring the road from Cunningham’s Cross to Upper Rd in Caherlean, Doonbeg to “an acceptable level of repair” were sought by Cllr PJ Kelly along with its inclusion in the 2022 road works programme.
Alan Kennelly, senior executive engineer in the West Clare Municipal District stated in response to Kelly’s proposal. “The L-6074-0 is not on the recently adopted 2021 Schedule of Municipal District Works. It may be considered for inclusion on the 2022 Programme. The velocity pothole patcher was in the area recently and I will request that it is again assigned to the L-6074-0 when next in the area”.
Given its popularity as a tourist destination, Cllr Kelly highlighted that many pedestrians utilise the road referenced. He outlined that they have encountered problems when pushing prams due to the condition of the road. Cllr Joe Garrihy (FG) seconded the motion.
