Cuba’s Ambassador to Ireland is to visit North Clare in one of his final public engagements in the role.

Hugo René Ramos Milanes will be discussing the relationship between Cuba and Ireland when he addresses the North Clare branch of the Labour party in Hotel Doolin on Thursday (October 28th) at 8:30pm.

Inflation, disruptions to supply chains and the pressure on Ireland’s tax rates are among the items that will be also thrashed out.

Chairman of the branch, Denis Vaughan told The Clare Echo, “Neutral Ireland has over many years maintained a constructive and friendly relationship with Cuba with which, in its struggle for independence, it has so much in common. In a foreign affairs career that has spanned several decades, Ambassador Milanes has worked tirelessly for the less fortunate around the world, especially in Africa. He will share with us his perspective on Cuba’s place in the modern world”.
