3,000 spectators will be allowed to attend Sunday’s Munster senior hurling semi-final between Clare and Tipperary.
On Thursday evening, Minister of State for Sport, the Gaeltacht and Defence, Jack Chambers (FF) confirmed that the clash of Clare and Tipperary at LIT Gaelic Grounds would be a pilot test event and an attendance of 3,000 would be permitted.
Last weekend, a total of 80 Clare supporters were allowed in the crowd of 200 for their four point win over Waterford. The limited supply of tickets were given to family members of the hurling panel.
Initially only 200 spectators would be allowed at Sunday’s semi-final, this was brought forward to 500 on Wednesday and now the Junior Minister has confirmed that it will be a pilot event and that 3,000 will be granted entry into the Gaelic Grounds.
In correspondence to Clare clubs on Thursday evening, Clare GAA secretary Pat Fitzgerald advised that extra tickets for the county will be made available to clubs via Munster GAA. A link to ticket sales will be sent to club secretaries at 9am on Friday morning, the County Board will not receive a separate allocation to cater for clubs.
Supporters have been advised that face coverings are mandatory at the game.
