Ennis won back the Costello Cup when they accounted for holders Woodstock on a score of 213 points to 191 at Ennis last Sunday.

The winning Ennis pairings were Michael Ball and Frank Cullinan with 44 points, Jim Casey and Pat McInerney with 43 points, James Horgan and Gerry O’Connor, Steve Burns and Fergus O’Brien, Michael Cooney and Tom Woulfe, each with 42 points.

The scoring pairings for Woodstock were Ollie McNamara and Liam O’Connor with 41 points, Frank Landy and Steven Horgan with 40 points, Ronan and Ken Horgan with 38 points, Henry and Nelius Butler Michael Canty and Martin Browne, both pairings with 36 points
Dromoland Golf Club:

Pat Bergin won the men’s 18 hole stableford competition at Dromoland at the weekend with 47 points. He had two to spare over Eric Flynn who was followed in third place by Niall Woods with 43 with Adrian Glynn, also with 43 points, in fourth place.

Patrick Marnane won the gross with 39 points. Siobhan Doohan won the ladies 18 hole stroke medal competition with 72 from Patricia Moroney who had a similar score with Michelle McCarthy in third spot with 72 followed by Maria Colfer with 74, Mairead Twomey won the gross with 88.

The ladies 9 hole stableford competition was won by Mary Rogers with 17 points from Mairead Toomey with a similar score

Ennis Golf Club:

Last week’s ladies 16 hole competition at Ennis was won by Patricia O’Reilly with 41 points.

Division 1 was won by Peggy Cosello (24) with 31 points, division 2 by Betty O’Reilly (37) with 38 points and division 3 by Marina Varden (56) with 39 points.

The 9 hole stableford competition was won by Peggy Costello (12) with 20 points while Flor Coffey (10) with 15 points won division 1, Mary Walshe (19) with 17 points won division 2 and Liz Kelly (24) won division 3 with 19 points.

The senior ladies modified scramble was won by Martina Corbett, Mary Gardiner and Therese Lillis from Margaret Flanagan, Carmel Verling and Eileen Holly.

The open singles continue on this Friday while there will be a charity open singles over Saturday, Sunday and Bank holiday Monday in aid of Cahercalla community care.

East Clare Golf Club:

The ladies green jumper competition at East Clare was won by Noreen Doyle (21) with 45 points from Mary Farrell (37) with 40 points and Geraldine Finnegan (26) with 39 points. Siobhan Shanahan (14) won the gross.

The winners of the ladies Wednesday competition were Heather Cullen, Ursula Hogan and Teresa Tonna from Evelyn Skehan, Connie McKenna and Geraldine Condren. Third pace was filled by Noreen Skehan, Evelyn O’Brien and Mary Healy who were followed by Margaret Mac Namara, Mary Collins and Brid Gurnett.

The winner of the men’s masters competition was Pat Madden (23) with 63 and he won on a countback from Noel Nash (26) 63 with third spot filled by Michael W. O’Halloran (17) with 67. The birdie winner was Ger Hogan (16).

The men’s open singles was won by Aaron O’Brien (11) with 66 from Noel Nash (27) with 67.

Last week’s senior men’s competition was won by Terry Coughlan, Brian Torpey and Ger Teefy from John Torpey, Kieran McNamara and Batt Skehan with third spot filled by Willie Roche, Ger Condren,Nick Ryan.

Winners in the Friday mixed competition were Willie Roche, Noreen Skehan and Brendan Moloney from Brian Torpey, Mary Farrell and Noreen Doyle with third spot filled by Terry Coughlan, Teresa Tonna and Connie McKenna.

Woodstock Golf Club:

Last week’s ladies 18 hole stableford competition at Woodstock was won by Edel Clune (51) with 45 points from Chaye kelly (10) with 35 points.

In the weekend’s men’s club singles competition, Niall Reynolds (15) won with 51 points while Kieran Cunnane (scratch) won the gross with 36 points.

Category 1 was won by Rob Cantwell (8) with 39 points from Sean Crowe (3) with a similar score.

Category 2 was won by John McBride (12) with 40 points and he was two ahead of Donal Lynch (18) while the category 3 winner was Michael Foley (21) with 43 points.

Winners in the 2’s competition were Niall Reynolds (6th, 8th and 14th holes), Joe Green (4th hole), Evan Greer (4th hole) and Alan Frawley (8th hole.

In the club betterball competition the winners were Paddy Meehan (10) and Richard Pyne (16) with 45 points.

There will be an open singles at Woodstock on this Thursday while the competition at the weekend will be a club singles v par.

On Easter Monday there will be a Texas scramble team of 2 competition while there will also be an open singles.

Gort Golf Club:

The subscription stakes, an 18 hole singles competition sponsored by O’Donnell Keane and Co at Gort was won by Malachy Whyte (19) with 46 points.

The category 1 winner was Eamon Higgins (11) with 40 points, category 2 was won by Colie Smyth (17) 44 points, category 3 by Ray Quinn (23) with 42 points while the gross was won by Gavin Lally (+1) with 37 points.

The ladies subscription stakes 18 hole stroke medal competition was won by Josie Collins (21) with 66 on a countback from Olive Mulcair (22) 66 with third spot filled by Catherine Burke (32) with 69
Hannah McInerney (6) won the gross with 82.

The open singles on Friday was won by Josh MacFarlane (34) with 44 points while the category winners were Kris Finnegan (0) with 40 points, Ben Geoghegan (16) with 40 points and Kyle MacFarlane (20) with 37 points.

In last week’s ladies competition, an 18 hole stableford event, category 1 was won by Bernie Diskin (17) with 36 points, category 2 by Josie Collins (21) with 35 points, category 3 by Catherine Burke (33) with 37 poi ts and category 4 by Patsy Lyons (43) with 35 points.

Last week’s open 18 hole singles was won by Louise Butler (10) with 40 points from Geraldine Connors (19) with 36 points.

Friday’s open singles winner was Catherine Bailey (52) with 44 points from Joan Fogarty (18) with 43 points.

Kildysart Golf Society:

Kildysart golf society will hold an outing to Cregmore in Galway on Sunday April 27. The society is open for new members and details can be had from Bryan Hayes on 087 647 0596 or on the Kildysart Golf Society Facebook page.

Further outings are scheduled for Esker Hills on May 24, on June 29, Kilrush on July 27, Portumna on August 24, Westport on September 20 and Killarney on October 19.

Clare Football:

In excess of sixty teams will compete in the Art Data Centres (Tom McNamara) team of four classic which will take place at Woodstock golf club on Thursday and Friday of next week (April 24 and 25).
This annual event raises funds to help with the promotion of football at inter county level from development squads through minor, under 20 and senior.
