Five new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Co Clare.

Co Clare now has the fourth lowest 14 incidence rate per 100k of the population in the entire country. The figure in Clare is now 33.7 which is comfortably below the national rate of 80.7 and significantly less than the highest present rate of 224.9 which is in Donegal.

Confirmation of five new cases in the county means that a total of 40 persons have been diagnosed with the virus in Clare over the past fortnight.

Nationally, a further 301 cases are known. 119 of these are in Dublin, 32 in Donegal, 16 in Cork,13 in Kildare,13 in Kilkenny and the remaining 108 cases are spread across 18 other counties.

No new deaths have been reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre according to Sunday’s data released by the Department of Health.

As of 2pm on Sunday, 231 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 28 are in ICU. 8 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.
