Clare Youth Service has marked the UN International Day of Volunteering with the presentation of Volunteer Recognition Pins to six longstanding youth leaders across the county.
The Volunteer Recognition Pin is awarded across the country to Youth Work Ireland Volunteers who give their time and energy to help and support young people by running youth clubs and schemes, supporting programmes, supporting organisations as advisers, fundraisers and as members of local and national boards.
Nathalie Ei Baba of Fishbowl in Scariff and Phil Miesle of Coder Dojo in Ennis were presented with the ten-year awards.
Maeve Keavey of Mullagh Youth Club, Ultan Mulqueen, TFC Youth Club and Dympna Dillon and Deirdre Neylon from Kilmaley Youth Club received the five-year awards.
All six have made huge contributions to young people in their communities. Shíofra Hassett, Chairperson of Clare Youth Service, told the gathering, “No award can truly recognise the effort these volunteers have made and continue to make on behalf of young people through youth work. This award is a small thank you from Clare Youth Service and a token of recognition to all our volunteers”.
Garrett Mallon, a talented Jeweller who has worked with Youth Work Ireland over the years on Volunteer Achievement Awards, designed the pins for Youth Work Ireland.
Awards were presented Gerry Murphy of CYS partner EI Electronics based in Shannon, on December 5th which is known as International Volunteer Day.
