ALL TWENTY eight seats on Clare County Council for the 2024-2029 term have been filled following an action packed two-day count.

There was defeat for the sitting trio of Cllr PJ Ryan (IND), Cllr Cillian Murphy (FF) and Cllr Liam Grant (GP) while the county’s female representation has soared to an all-time high of six.

Fianna Fáil continue to hold the majority in the Council, they have fourteen seats. Fine Gael have gone from eight to nine, Sinn Féin have doubled their representation on the local authority, the Greens have lost their seat in Clare and Independents have lost two seats even though Dinny Gould (IND) has been elected.
