CLARE’S senior camogie side have qualified for the Munster final for the second year in a row.

Clare 1-15
Limerick 0-11
Venue: TUS Gaelic Grounds, Limerick

A fully merited win over Limerick sees John Carmody’s charges advance to the decider.

Two points ahead at the halfway stage the Banner ladies dominated the second half when they limited their opponents to just two points.

In the final which will be played at Thurles as a curtain raised to the Clare v Waterford Munster senior hurling championship game on Saturday week, May 6, they will face either Cork, Waterford or Tipperary. Favourites Cprk play Waterford this Sunday with the winners facing Tipperary next weekend.

Clare held a two point lead at half time in this Munster senior camogie championship semi-final clash of shannonside neighbours at the TUS Gaelic grounds on Saturday evening.

A well taken Aine O’Loughlin goal proved crucial, the Truagh-Clonlara player showing great control when winning possession before shooting to the net.

Clare started well and raced into an 0-5 to 0-1 lead after eight minutes. The home side closed the gap to two, 0-4 to 0-6, by the end of the first quarter but Clare’s response was O’Loughlin’s goal which came in the twenty first minute.

Limerick finished the half strongly scoring four of the last five points to trail by two at the interval when the score was 1-8 to 0-9 in the visitor’s favour.

The home side hit the opening point of the second half to close the gap to the minimum but from here on Clare held control.
Four points in a row had Clare 1-12 to 0-10 ahead at the three quarter stage. Limerick pulled one back but Clare continued to dominate and added three without reply to seal a comfortable win.

Indeed their winning margin could have been greater but limerick goalie Laura O’Neill made two outstanding saves on a day when Clare Hehir, Alannah Ryan, Orlaith Duggan, Caoimhe Carmody, Niamh O’Dea, Aine O’Loughlin and Lorna McNamara impressed
