A professional diver was needed to rescue a car from Killimer slipway on Sunday.

Three men believed to be from Cooraclare went out on jet skis on Sunday but left the car in which they travelled to Killimer on the slipway and discovered it to be underwater when they returned.

Assistance from a professional diver and recovery to rescue the car was needed.

Reports that the three individuals were also issued with €500 fixed penalty notices for breaching COVID-19 regulations were not confirmed by An Garda Síochána when contacted by The Clare Echo.

“We don’t provide details on individual cases concerning the issue of FPNs for breaches of Covid regulations. In cases involving the arrest of individuals guidance is provided,” a spokesperson outlined.
