Captain Jarlath Fahy, lady captain Eilis Neville, junior boys captain Callum Hayes, junior girls captain Emma Maloney, seniors captain John O’Donovan and President Ken Horgan ‘drove-in’ to office at Woodstock on Sunday.

The drive-in was followed by a 9 hole scramble. The front nine winners were Paul Coote, John Clune, Edel Clune and Sean Crowe with 22.9 while the back nine winners were Colm McEnery, Tony Coote, Marie McNamara and Chaye Kelly with 24.7.

A great evening was had in Hotel Woodstock afterwards where a message from member Aine Donegan was shown on TV the captains all the best for the year ahead.

Colm Geary (6) was the winner of the club singles at Woodstock at the weekend with 42 points. He won on a countback from David Quinn (11) and they were a point ahead of Bernardo Kelly (7). Barry McNamara (12) was fourth with 40 points with Dickie Pyne (12) next on 38 points.

There will be a club modified fourball over St.. Patrick’s weekend and re-entry with a different partner is permitted.

East Clare Golf Club:

The Winter league final took place at East Clare on Sunday when the winners were
Eileen Donnellan, Sadie Conroy, Danny Minogue, John Fielding, David McNamara and Tom Larkin.

The runners up were Marie Donnellan, Trish Nash, Enda Donnellan, Jason Horan, Kieron Fox and Adrian Casey.

The shield winners were Catherine Minogue, Margaret Lynch, Noreen O’Grady, Michael Lambe, Erik Kohlus, Pat Melody, Ger O’Brien and William O’Brien.

Shield runners up were Catherine Murphy, Margaret MacNamara, Pat McNamara, Martin Crotty, Teddy Murphy, Tony Stuart and Pat Duggan.

The ladies fourball betterball on March 3 was won by Breda McCarthy and
Maureen Clune from Marie Donnellan and Breda McCarthy.

The winners of the ladies Wednesday competition were Mary Bugler, Brid Hayes and Pauline Nugent fromNoreen Doyle, Mary Jo. Minogue and Breda McCarthy with third place filled by Evelyn Skehan, Kay Grimes and Margaret Hoey.

Dromoland Golf Club:

The captain’s drive in at Dromoland took place last week when Jean Colleran (Lady captain), John O’Neill (men’s captain), Suzie Cusack (junior captain), launched their season at the helm. Niall Cannon is the club president this season.

Ennis Golf Club:

The winner in the ladies January-February series over 14 holes at Ennis was Kathleen Pyne with 100 points. Flor Coffey was second with 90 points with Suzanne Deane in third spot with 89 points.

Margaret Flanagan was the winner in the 9 hole category with 56 points a point ahead of Sinead O’Sullivan with Mary Curley in third place with 52 points. Last week’s 14 hole competition was won by Flor Coffey (23) with 34 points, a point ahead of Attracta Williams (32).

In the 9 hole competition the previous week the winner was Mary nazge (24) with 18 points.

Sixmilebridge Golf Society:

Sixmilebridge golf society’s first outing of the year took place last Saturday to Dundrum in Tipperary when victory went to Adam Merriman.

In second place was Brian Murphy followed by Eric Purcell with Pat Kearney in fourth spot. David Purcell won the front nine while Dermot McNamara was the winner of the back nine

Gort Golf Club:

Niall O’Shaughnessy (11) was the category 1 winner in the 18 hole singles at Gort at the weekend with 41 points. Briain Dillon (16) won category 2 with a similar score.

John Dempsey (19) won category 2 with 45 points while Kieran Reddy (22) returned 43 points to win category 4.

Clare Football:

The Shannonside Building Supplies classic in aid of Clare football will take place at Woodstock on Thursday and Friday April 25 and 26. funds raised from this will go towards the promotion of football at development squad, minor under 20 and senior at inter county level.

The competition will be for teams of four and entries can be given to any of the organising committee of Colm Collins, Ciaran Browne, Tommy Tubridy, Kevin Callinan Niamh Madigan, Mary Farrell-Keane and Seamus Hayes.
