Shannon Town Utd’s U14s edged out Limerick club Shelbourne Utd in the National Cup with Aidan Buckley slotting home the all-important goal.

With the bulk of possession in the opening half, Shannon Town’s perseverance paid off with Billy Kelly floating the ball to Aidan Buckley who made no mistake after beating his man to find the net and put the hosts in front.

Vital saves from Flinn Carrig ensured Shannon Town were able to survive from unrelenting Shelbourne pressure. Carrig’s display was rewarded with a clean sheet while it also helped the Shannon side advance to the next round.

There was also success for Clare’s Kennedy Cup side who recorded a 3-0 win against Carlow. They’ve qualified for the Kennedy Bowl semi-final which takes place on the weekend of December 5th/6th with home advantage secured.
