CLARE’S big three have progressed to the fourth round of the FAI Junior Cup.

Avenue Utd and Bridge Utd had comprehensive victories against Lifford FC and Shannon Hibs respectively while Newmarket Celtic received a walkover from Kerry opponents Killorglin AFC.

Four goals in the space of thirteen minutes towards the end of the opening half ended this affair. It was nip and tuck up until Jack Dunleavy broke the deadlock on thirty two minutes but once Avenue found their way, there was to be no stopping them in what transpired to be a very tame Ennis derby.

Jack Ryan’s move from the left to the right wing coincided with Avenue beginning to create far more opportunities.

Indeed the Shannon man combined with Eoghan Thynne who pulled back to allow Jack Dunleavy pull the trigger for their first goal.

Thynne won possession back for Avenue in the middle of the park before playing a through ball to Ryan who finished their second to the net on thirty seven minutes.

After Jamie Roche did well to earn a corner for the visitors, Dylan Casey’s set piece was headed by Ronan Kerin and it appeared to accidently rather than purposely bounce off the head of Ryan and suddenly they had a three goal advantage.

Roche and Casey once again provided the assist to allow Ryan complete his hat-trick in the space of eight minutes as Avenue headed to the dressing rooms leading 4-0.

Although Lifford managed to score four goals in their recent Premier Division draw with Newmarket Celtic, they were shy many of their best players and so morale was evaporated from their perspective at the interval.

Dylan Casey produced what will be one of the goals of the FAI Junior Cup with a stunning volley from distance off his left boot in what was the highlight of the morning tie.

Further goals from Thynne, Ronan Kerin and Mark Roche sealed an easy victory for the double champions who advanced minus the services of Steven McGann and Elias Kunz.
