Avenue Utd B and Sporting Ennistymon have completed the line-up for the Banner Carpets and Flooring Clare Cup semi-finals.

Frank Healy Park hosted the last eight clash between Avenue Utd B and Shannon Olympic B on Sunday and it proved to be a commanding display from the Ennis side that saw them join Avenue Utd A and Newmarket Celtic A in the semi-finals.

They put four goals past Trevor O’Donnell to record a 4-0 victory. Tomás Hehir goaled twice including one from the penalty spot while Nathan Bonaventure and Cullen McCabe also got in on the act to help the 2012 finalists advance.

The McConigley brothers scored four goals between them as Sporting Ennistymon overcame Manus Celtic 7-3 in Lahinch. Sean and Jamesy may have accounted for over half of the North Clare side’s tally but Eoin Marrinan’s 40 yard top corner strike is earning all the plaudits. Michael Leigh and David McNamara rounded off the scoring for the winners. Adam Cassidy scored twice for Manus with Aaron Greene also converting a penalty.

On Tuesday rivals Newmarket Celtic A and Avenue Utd A face off in the first semi-final at 6:45pm in the County Grounds. Exactly 24 hours later, Avenue Utd B take on Sporting Ennistymon. Both games are to be held behind closed doors and will also proceed to extra time and penalties if necessary.
